About Gemini

"Gemini" is a 14 ton Berthon Gauntlet built in 1947 by the Berthon Boat Company of Lymington, on the south coast of England. I became her owner in June 2008.

Here she is anchored off Crinan on the west coast of Scotland in September 2008, prior to a fairly major refit.

Why "Gemini"?

Gemini was originally launched with the name Gemini but had undergone a couple of name changes since. I decided to give her back her original name. It had started to resonate strongly with me. Partly because that was her first name, but also because Gemini is the sign of the twins. Especially after Natalia and Diego first visited the boat and took to her so well.

Where is Gemini?

Gemini is berthed at Port Olimpic. Click here for a Google map of her location.

Gemini is based in Port Olimpic, Barcelona. The easiest way to get to Port Olimpic is on the metro (station Ciutadella/Vila Olimpica, on the yellow line - line 4), or by walking along the Barceloneta beach.

When you reach Port Olimpic, you need to come to the side of the port that is nearest to Barceloneta. The best landmark is the two towers (Mapfre and Hotel Arts) - that's the correct side of the port.

You enter the port by going down the steps in front of the Mapfre tower. Pass underneath the bridge and carry straight on (don't turn left) through the big white iron gates - they are open during the day.

Gemini is about 10 boats in. She is easy to recognise, you can see her wooden mast from far away (all the other boats have aluminium masts), and she has a wooden hull (all the others are fibre glass).

Take a note of my mobile number. If you can't find Gemini when you get to the port, give me a call.
